Welcome from the
Rotary Club of Cobourg
Each year, Rotary International and Rotary Clubs around the world adopt a theme. The 2017-2018 the is Making a difference.
The Rotary Club of Cobourg has a proud 96 year history of making a difference, both locally and internationally. This is due in part to the success of the Rotary Arts & Crafts Show at the Cobourg Waterfront Festival.
Since the onset of the "End Polio" campaign in 1985, our club has been a leading financial contributor toward the goal of eradicating Polio worldwide. Our members have contributed to providing clean water, building schools and, although we take them for granted, adding bathroom facilities to schools in third world countries. We've also had several of our members participate in "sweat equity" projects in countries such as Cambodia, Honduras, Africa, to name a few, at great personal expense.
Locally, we have dedicated almost $1,000,000.00 to our hospital for its construction as well as the purchase of new and modern equipment. This ensures our community has access to state of the art medical care.
We have supported our youth through scholarships and sponsorship of our local Air cadet squadron. Through our Special Needs Committee we have committed thousands of dollars to be spent on installing ramps, providing wheelchairs and other specialized equipment for the disabled. We have paid for dentures, hearing aids, and other sundry items so as to help our neighbours enjoy a more comfortable life style. Over the years we have achieved all of the above and more through the monies raised by our fundraising efforts.
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Cobourg, I thank you for your continued support as we strive to make a difference.
